2026
Into The Wilderness
Having just heard the news, I think nothing could prepare me for the death of someone dear to me; someone I had promised myself I would get to know better in case God forbid I lose them. Now, before I even got the chance to try, I wasn't able to fulfil that promise in my heart. I am left with stories and memories that have never happened; the laughs and sorrows that could have been. The first times - a first house, first baby, the first time I could be Aunty Mandy...All of it fades as all possibilities fall in the face of such tragedy.
It is the start of the year, and it would be the easiest thing to say that 2026 will be a year of sorrow and grief. It will be. But it will also be a year of picking myself up from off the floor. Piecing together all the parts that have shattered. Lining the cracks with gold.

Beginnings
I learnt that it's hard having New Year's Resolutions. I always seem to fail them in the first month. No matter how much I try; because I focus so much on outward progress, I tend to forget the motivations that fuel them.
So, I turned it upside down. Instead of focussing on the habit, I decided to focus on the value. For example, for 2026 I value:
- Processing emotion and information to
understand the human condition and unveil
wisdom and direction.
Sounds complicated but really that might mean listening to an audible track or a podcast; reading a self-development book or magazine; listening to the bible; having deep conversations with all my friends; the list is endless. But I'm not telling myself "I should read a book". No, I am saying "Oh, I'm interested in finding out more about humanning because I value understanding my emotions...Hm, how can I do that? Oh look, there's a book about it." Every small action, even if it's just chatting about it, reinforces your values. Which then shapes who you want to be and who you are becoming.
